Italy international Alessandro Bastoni shares a heartfelt message for Inter fans and teammates after a 7-6 aggregate win over Barcelona while praising ‘good kid’ Lamine Yamal: ‘You are a monster.’
The Nerazzurri qualified for the Champions League Final on Tuesday night, beating Barcelona 4-3 at San Siro.
The first leg in Barcelona ended in an equally incredible 3-3 draw, so the Nerazzurri needed extra time on Tuesday to beat the Catalans thanks to a goal from Davide Frattesi.
Inter star Bastoni commented on the game two days after the full-time whistle through his official Instagram account.
“Only now I’m starting to realise what an incredible feat we pulled off on Tuesday. The effort we left on that pitch was massive, and it was all repaid, and more, by the unforgettable energy of our fans,” wrote the Italian defender.
“I’m grateful to every single teammate: the spirit, the hunger, the heart. Fighting by your side is what makes every sacrifice since we were kids worth it. Respect to our opponents – they showed incredible strength and heart. And special mention to a terrifyingly good kid: Lamine Yamal, you’re a monster. To all the Interisti, see you in Munich. Thank you for everything.”
Inter will meet Ligue 1 giants PSG in the Champions League Final in Munich on May 31. The French side, coached by Luis Enrique, beat Arsenal 3-1 on aggregate in the semis.
Inter’s next Serie A game is away at Torino. The Nerazzurri sit second in the table, three points below leaders Napoli, with just three games remaining.
