Rod Stewart is extending his hiatus from his Las Vegas show as he recuperates from illness.
The “Maggie May” crooner, 80, announced on Instagram on Wednesday, June 4 that he has cancelled his show on Thursday, June 5 at The Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace — at his doctor’s request.
“I’m awfully sorry…,” he wrote in a statement over a black background. “My doctor ordered a bit more rest while I recover from the flu. Thanks for your love and understanding — Rod 💔.”
Stewart has been battling the illness since the weekend. He announced a few hours before his scheduled show on Sunday, June 1, that his performance would not be going on as planned after feeling unwell, though he didn’t say what kind of illness he had at the time.
“I am sorry to inform you that I’m not feeling well and my show tonight at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace is being rescheduled to June 10,” wrote Stewart. “Your tickets will be valid for the new date.”
PEOPLE reached out to Stewart’s rep for comment but did not immediately hear back.

Last month, the music icon performed at the 2025 American Music Awards, to mark his Lifetime Achievement Award. He sported a white tux and pinstripe trousers to perform the 1988 hit “Forever Young,” marking his first performance at the awards show since 2004.
The “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?” musician has had brief illnesses in the past that have cancelled or postponed shows, including a bout of strep throat and COVID in August 2024 that made him cancel a few Las Vegas performances.
Despite this, three months later, Stewart told fans in an Instagram post, “This will be the end of large-scale world tours for me, but I have no desire to retire,” while speaking about his One Last Time farewell tour.
“I love what I do, and I do what I love,” he continued at the time. “I’m fit, have a full head of hair, and can run 100 meters in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of 79.”

Stewart has continued to perform and has kept a busy schedule. He is slated to perform at Glastonbury later this month in its Legends slot as one of the oldest musicians to play the U.K. festival. The star has also confirmed that the show will feature a Faces reunion with Ronnie Wood.
He will also perform more North American shows for his One Last Time World Tour throughout the summer and continue with his residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace through the fall.
